Susie Drummond

I’ve worked as a senior leader in a council, a lottery funder and a Local Delivery Pilot. All of these needed my expertise in facilitation, relationship building, analysis, coaching, evaluating, challenging, sounding board – to get the system to knit together & connect with those outside “the usual suspects”. I am currently facilitating systems work in an existing local delivery pilot.  

I’m a calm yet energetic facilitator, with tools to support teams to build connections, practice new ways of working and find approaches to help your system change. I have facilitated in challenging situations across the globe, with senior leaders, councillors, consultants, academics, young people and citizens, so am skilled in defusing conflict and working toward connection. I use coaching & leadership skills and a variety of tools (such as Deep Democracy and Time to Think) to do this.  

With experience in system mapping, change management, organisational development, learning & evaluation and coaching, I can support your system as it builds connections and learns new ways of working together. Working across multiple organisations with differing challenges and goals, I’ve practiced what works in place partnerships and know which behaviours are helpful.   

As a director I have experience in supporting change, bringing in seldom heard voices, and effectively challenging poor behaviours to lead systems differently. I am an experienced coach, with private clients as well as extensive coaching of senior managers across all sectors.  

Tackling complex problems needs perseverance, kindness and the ability to reverse and redirect. In Birmingham, I led on the LDP and was a key part of the system partner networks. I worked on research with Birmingham University and WMCA on building local ecosystems to support behaviour change. I have skills and experience to gently challenge and support system partners to try new ways of doing things and measure what works and doesn’t. I aim for collaboration over competition, as evidenced by my work in council partnerships to increase service opening hours by changing how we worked, and by offering concessions to partners to agree a wider funding bid for the city.
