Live Longer Better:  Stocktake and Activating the Future

Live Longer Better:  Stocktake and Activating the Future

On Wednesday 1st November we were delighted to hold the Live Longer Better:  Stocktake and Activating the Future in-person event.

We have made significant progress developing the Live Longer Better (LLB) movement since December 2020, both within our own bi-weekly workshops across our AP network, within local networks, as well as with national partners.  At the Roundtable event in June, we discussed and explored what the keystone activations could/should be for LLB and the healthy active ageing agenda.  Whilst we continue this journey, we also wanted to think ahead.

Our in-person event on 1st November provided a critical opportunity for us all to meet together with our LLB Active Partnerships, key national partners and some excellent speakers, to have these very important conversations which included:

How to activate the keystone changes identified from the June Roundtable event:

  1. Public facing: help people to take control of their own health.
  1. Professionals: establish ‘activity’ as an integral part of professional training.
  1. Developing a physical (cognitive and emotional) activity manifesto and comms / influencing plan.

As well as ‘stocktake’ and imagine different futures for LLB beyond April 2024, when the current funding period ends.

The meeting room was full of energy, enthusiasm and a commitment to pursue this healthy active ageing agenda.  The event provided an opportunity to maximise the exploration and thinking, and enable facilitated discussion to understand the journey we’ve been on as well as how to continue, sustain and activate the movement, both locally and nationally.

A summary report of next steps will be available soon.

A Live Longer Better Celebratory Event (in-person) will be held in March 2024 – watch this space for further information!

Many thanks to all those who attended.  Huge thanks to our expert facilitators on the day: Ruth Ball (CPI) and Andy Brogan (Easier Inc.).
