Empowering Communities: The Multi-Sport Activity and Facilities Fund
The Multi-Sport Activity and Facilities Fund, which has been created thanks to investment by Sport England, is providing revenue and capital funding to deliver multi-sport activity and small-scale capital investment to communities across England.
The fund is aiming to help priority groups to be active at new and improved local facilities and it provides an opportunity for local communities to fully benefit from investment in their local area.
The Activity Partnerships National Organisation has been working on this programme alongside key partners including Sport England, the Football Foundation, the LTA and England Hockey.
As well as having a Strategic Lead and a Programme Manager for the fund working within the Active Partnerships National Organisation, there are eight regional leads based across the network and they work with both national and local stakeholders.
A condensed test phase for the revenue aspect of the fund is currently being delivered, with nation-wide applications to the Multi-Sport Activity and Facilities Fund expected to open in the summer of 2024.
What's the impact?
Active Partnerships and other stakeholders are engaging with local communities, especially those groups who have traditionally faced barriers to being active, to ensure that this funding helps those people that need it the most.
Driven by local community engagement, this fund will create opportunities for local people to be active in ways that suit their needs.
This work is closely aligned to Sport England’s place expansion work, which is bringing about an unprecedented investment into local communities. It is ensuring that funding reaches those people who are the least active and who have the greatest need when it comes to accessing sport and physical activity.
