Sport 2.0 - The Digital Revolution Continues brought together speakers, panellists, innovators and experts to tackle one of the biggest and most pressing opportunities facing the world of physical activity and sport - how to harness the potential of technology and data to enable people to be more physically active, more of the time.
Led by keynote speakers including London & Partners, the Open Data Institute, Loughborough University and Skignz, and reinforced in panels led by event partners the Sports Technology Awards and Beyond Sport, the event marked a step-forward in industry commitments to work collaboratively with leading figures in the worlds of technology and data.
With conversation topics ranging from the ability of virtual reality to create tailored participant experiences to the importance of creating open data systems to better support people's ability to find physical activity opportunities, delegates were given first-hand insight into the experiences of start-ups and established brands from both sport and tech.
The event, organised by London Sport and hosted by Sky Sports' David Garrido, also included two major announcements:
- New funding for tech start-ups focussing on getting people more active, through the Sport Technology Innovation Fund; and,
- The development of a new hub for SportsTech and FitTech start-ups managed by London Sport and London & Partners, in London Sport's forthcoming 'House of Sport' project, specifically designed to develop future partnerships between the sport sector and tech innovations.
