We were delighted to see the Live Longer Better movement highlighted in the Chief Medical Officer's annual report which focuses on health in an ageing society. The report includes excellent case studies from Hampshire Energise Me and Active Cumbria.
Annie Holden, Strategic Health Lead, Active Partnership National Organisation said
"It is brilliant that Active Partnerships and key partners have achieved this level of recognition and have their work and the Live Longer Better movement included in this report. The Live Longer Better network is a movement inspired by Sir Muir Gray, working with 30 Active Partnerships. The LLB movement is a great example of cross collaborative working, connecting across various local sectors aiming to develop a new culture: from care to enablement, using physical activity as the driver to increase healthspan for older adults.
As Chris Witty says in the report: “The Live Longer Better movement is a good example of a system supporting older adults to be physically, mentally and socially active. Through Live Longer Better, local networks of Age UK, the Active Partnerships of Sport England, NHS organisations and local authorities increase older adults’ physical ability, resilience and healthspan, and prevent falls and frailty.”
