Who we are

Active Partnerships is a nationwide physical activity, movement and sport network that exists to help make active lifestyles the norm for everyone.

Through our network of 43 local organisations, we take a place-based approach to breaking down the barriers that prevent people from being active.

We are all working together to deliver Uniting the Movement – a 10 year vision and strategy to transform lives and communities through sport, movement and physical activity.

Through our network of 43 local organisations, we take a place-based approach to breaking down the barriers that prevent people from being active.

We partner with local and national stakeholders to transform lives through physical activity, movement and sport and affect widespread social change. Our focus is on creating conditions in communities that enable sustainable impact.

A place-based approach

We are a place-based physical activity, movement, and sport network, because we understand that our health can be heavily influenced by the location in which we are born, live and work.

Our Active Partnerships are immersed in their place, with an expert knowledge of local people, communities, stakeholders, and systems. They harness this insight and reach, on a local and national scale, to remove barriers to activity, directly address inequalities and affect widespread social change.

We are part of the movement

The Active Partnerships National Organisation and the 43 active partnerships across England are funded by and work closely with Sport England.

Uniting the Movement was unveiled in 2021 and it includes a specific focus on confronting and tackling the inequalities that some people face when it comes to being active.
